Access

The Ampersand Hotel welcomes people with disabilities and has developed this access statement to address some of the issues disabled people may face. Recognition has been given to include guests with impairments, which could include – mobility, sight, hearing, learning disabilities or any hidden impairment.
We aim to ensure all employees, guest and others who use the hotel are treated equally and according to their needs.

Pre Arrival
Accessible bus stop is located on Harrington Road, just outside the hotel.
The nearest underground station is South Kensington – Piccadilly, Circle and District Lines. Unfortunately there is no step free access to this station. The closest station with step free access is Gloucester Road, Piccadilly line only or Earls Court for District and Piccadilly lines

Arrival 
The hotel’s main entrance is located on Harrington Road; unfortunately there is no dropped curb for level access.
A platform lift is provided for step free access to the hotel and Apero, restaurant and bar, which is available to non-residents during the restaurants opening hours and to residents of the hotel 24 hours a day. Upon entry to the hotel step free access is available to the reception and bedrooms via the two guest lifts.
There is always a member of staff available for any assistance which may be required.

Reception 
The reception desk is 1.1m high. Check in is available seated in the Lobby or Drawing Rooms at the guests convenience.
The hotel provides portable induction loops upon request
The registration card can be printed in large print if required.

Public Areas
The Drawing Rooms are located on the ground floor and Apero, bar and restaurant are on the lower ground floor which are accessible via guest lifts.
All floors of the hotel are accessible by lift, Lower Ground to 5th Floor.
The lifts have audible enunciation, tactile buttons and a mirror at the rear 80cm – 180cm 
Refuge areas are located on each floor with a low-level telephone and are clearly signed.

Public WC
An accessible toilet is located on the lower ground floor, level access is provided via the lift. It is fitted with grab rails and alarm.
Baby changing facilities are also located in the accessible WC

Guest Bedrooms
Accessible rooms are on ground, first and 4th floor and all are fitted with alarms in case of emergency by the bed. All of these rooms have been designed with wide entrance doors, low-level light switches, power socket by the bed, transfer space of 140cm one side of the bed, Deafgard alarms are available providing strobe lighting and vibrating pillow upon activation of the fire alarm.
Bathrooms provide level entry showers with grab rails and shower stools. A pull cord alarm is also fitted in case of emergency.

The Drawing Rooms and Apero
The Drawing Rooms floor is polished marble and Apero’s floor is a wooden floor.
Both areas have a mixture of moveable and fitted chairs and tables.
Full table service is provided in both areas, lighting levels are generally lower in the evening. Large print menus can be provided upon request.
A portable induction loop is also available upon request.

Games Room and Library
Located on the lower ground floor with level access.
All rooms have natural light and a combination of wooden floor and short pile rugs.
Both meeting rooms are fitted with permanent induction loop systems.
