DINO SNORES – Multiple dates throughout the year
Dino Snores is an overnight sleepover event held at natural history museums, most famously London’s Natural History Museum, where visitors explore galleries after closing hours. It typically includes torch-lit tours, behind-the-scenes looks at specimens, and science activities led by museum staff.
The highlight is sleeping in sleeping bags on the gallery floor beneath massive dinosaur skeletons like a T. rex or Diplodocus. Sessions run for families or sometimes adults-only groups, usually ending with breakfast the next morning. It’s popular for offering a quiet, immersive experience compared to the museum’s usual daytime crowds.
BFI 70th Film Festival – 7th to 18th October 2026
It is the UK’s biggest film event, an 11 day bonanza of movies, big and small, at cinemas and venues across London and other major cities in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Very much not a festival that’s just for the critics, snobs and VIPs, the LFF remains the most accessible of the world’s big film festivals.
FRIEZE ART FAIR – 14th October to 18th October 2026
One of the coolest dates in the London art calendar, join the gallery glitterati in Regent’s Park for the Frieze Art Fair.
View, browse and buy world-class art from the best international galleries in the stunning surroundings of one of the cities most famous parks, and enjoy the food and drink menus on offer, curated by some of London’s best and most exciting restaurants.
EFG LONDON JAZZ FESTIVAL – 13th to 22nd November 2026
The EFG London Jazz Festival returns to the capital from November 13 to November 22, 2026, bringing ten days of world-class performances, boundary-pushing collaborations, and major showcases to over 60 venues across the city.
Now in its 34th year, Europe’s largest pan-city music festival features an eclectic lineup spanning global icons and emerging talent, including special tributes like the “John Coltrane 100” series at the Barbican, rare appearances by cosmic disco pioneer Asha Puthli, and vibrant community-focused events.
HYDE PARK WINTER WONDERLAND – 19th Nov to 3rd Jan 2027
London’s definitive winter event takes over Hyde Park for six weeks of festive theme park thrills. It features the UK’s largest open-air ice rink, massive rollercoasters like the Munich Looping, the Magical Ice Kingdom, and the sprawling Bavarian Village.
CHRISTMAS MARKETS
London’s Christmas markets fill the city with festive cheer, offering something special for the whole family.
Strolling through the wooden stalls, you will find handmade gifts, sparkling decorations, and plenty of festive bites to enjoy together. Children will love the hot chocolate and sweet treats, while parents can browse unique crafts and seasonal delights. Covent Garden is especially magical, with its giant tree and market atmosphere surrounded by lights and music.
Visiting these markets is a joyful way for families to soak up the spirit of Christmas in London.
HOGWARTS IN THE SNOW – Nov 2026 to Jan 2027
Located just outside central London at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour, the filmmaking sets of Harry Potter get a dramatic winter makeover, featuring filmmaking snow, festive fires, and the Great Hall dressed for the Yule Ball.
Prepare to find Christmas surprises and filmmaking secrets around every corner. Discover the Gryffindor and Slytherin common rooms decorated with garlands, wreaths and Christmas cards, crafted by the crew during filming. At the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, practice the steps of the Yule Ball waltz, just as Neville Longbottom did.
THE EVER AFTER GARDEN – 5th November to 21st December
The Ever After Garden, one of London’s most-loved festive experiences is set to return this Christmas and, for the first time, it’s lighting up Chelsea.
The Duke of York Square green will be transformed into a breathtaking display of over 30,000 illuminated white roses. Visitors are invited to pause, reflect and remember loved ones while helping to fund life-saving cancer research and care through The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS – From Mid-November
London’s Christmas lights bring the city to life with glittering displays that the whole family will love.
In West London, Kensington and Chelsea sparkle with festive decorations, making a stroll through the neighbourhoods feel extra special. King’s Road shines with elegant lights and shopfronts full of festive cheer, perfect for a family evening walk. Covent Garden adds extra charm with its giant Christmas tree, twinkling decorations, and plenty of festive treats to enjoy together.
Everywhere you go, the city glows with warmth and magic, making Christmas in London unforgettable for children and adults alike.
LONDON NEW YEAR’S EVE FIREWORKS – 31st Dec
The world-famous midnight display lights up the sky over the London Eye and the River Thames. This is a ticketed event drawing over 100,000 spectators to the riverside viewing zones. The first batch of 50,000 tickets goes on sale in October 2026, with a final release.
The official Mayor of London New Year’s Eve Fireworks to welcome 2027 will take place . This is a strictly ticketed event, and you cannot enter the central London viewing zones without booking in advance
